Heidi Pitlor

Heidi Pitlor is the author of the novels The Birthdays, The Daylight Marriage, which was optioned for film, and Impersonation. Her writing has been published in The New York Times, The Boston Globe, Lit Hub, Ploughshares, and elsewhere.
Heidi was an editor at Houghton Mifflin Harcourt for ten years, and was then the series editor of The Best American Short Stories for eighteen years, until 2024. Since 2019, she has also served as the editorial director of the literary studio, Plympton.
In 2022, she founded and became the director of Heidi Pitlor Editorial, a small firm that provides editorial support to authors, agents, publishers, podcasts, and film producers. She lives outside Boston.
